Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant O.R.C. April, 1937. Ordered to extended active duty Oct. 24, 1940, at Fort Dix, N. J., with C.A.S.O., promoted 1st Lieutenant Dec. 1940. Transferred to Ft. Devens, Mass., and assigned to 366th Infantry April 1, 1941.

Fred Durrah and his wife, Isabel, were my parents' close friends since before I was born. He later became a lawyer, and he and my father were Omega Psi Phi fraternity brothers.

This photo was taken at my Uncle LeRoy Harrod's funeral. Since LeRoy was also a brother of Omega Psi Phi, the brothers gave him their traditional send-off.
