Ferguson - 1941

ALONZO G. FERGUSON
Major
Assistant Battalion Commander

Commissioned 1st Lieutenant O.R.C. October 15, 1917, after completing four months training course at Fort Des Moines, Iowa. Commanded Co. A, 350th Machine Gun Battalion during the World War in the Vosges Sector, Meuse-Argonne and Marbache. Twice wounded. After the World War reappointed 1st Lieutenant O.R.C., 1923. Promoted Captain July, 1929; Major July, 1938.

Col. Ferguson was my paternal grandmother's companion at all family functions, or anyplace where a lady required a gentleman escort. I grew up with him as part of my extended family ... a stable, non-cohabitating relationship between widowed seniors.

I have pictures from Col. Ferguson's funeral, with full military honors, that I will be adding Real Soon Now. In the mean time, here are some photographs of him from my grandmother's collection.
