Honorably discharged February 24, 1911, expiration term of service. Re-enlisted March 4.1911. Honorably discharged July 16, 1913 to accept promotion by commission. Commissioned Second Lieutenant July 17,1913. Commissioned First Lieutenant June 27.1916. Mustered into Federal service June 27, 1916. Mustered out of Federal service October 23, 1916. Mustered into Federal service March 26, 1917. Drafted into Federal service August 5, 1917. and by operation of law that day discharged from the District of Columbia National Guard.

Advancement: Appointed Corporal April, 1905. Appointed Sergeant June, 1908. Commissioned Second Lieutenant July 17, 1913. Commissioned First Lieutenant July 4, 1916. Commissioned Captain January 22, 1918.

Reserve Service: Captain Infantry Reserve September 19, 1919. Major Infantry Reserve March 5, 1924. Lieutenant Colonel Infantry Reserve July 21, 1926. Colonel Infantry Reserve August 3, 1933.

Federal Service: June 19, 1916 to October 23, 1916, Mexican Border Service. World War Service March 26, 1917 to April 15. 1919. Served in France March 30, 1918 to February 15, 1919.

Organizations during World War: 372nd Infantry January 1, 1918 to November 21, 1918. 368th Infantry November 23, iSiS to April 15, 1919.

Commanded: 428th Infantry 1925 to March 2,1941 (Reserve Regiment). Commanded Fort Howard CMTC 1936-1940. inclusive.

On duty with the 366th Infantry, Fort Devens, Massachusetts, March 3.1941. to date.


Col. Hamilton was my 10th Grade homeroom teacher in 1964. At the time, I had no comprehension of what it meant when he said, "Your father and I fought together in Italy during the Second World War twenty years ago."

He and Col.Talley were the banes of my existence while attending Theodore Roosevelt High School in Wasington, DC. :-)
