Regimental Recreation and Athletic Officer, Graduated Muskegon. Mich., High School, 1933. B.S. Wilberforce University, Wilberforce, Ohio, 1938; M.A. (Sociology) Fisk University, Nashville, Tenn., 1940. R.O.T.C. training four years at Wilberforce University, receiving commission as 2nd Lt. in O.R.C., in 1938. Promoted to let Lt., June 16, 1941. Called to active duty with the 366th Infantry at Fort Devens, Mass., March 4, 1941. Received one citation, the first for this newly activated regiment for exceptionally meritorious conduct in helping in the rescue of a soldier from drowning in Mirror Lake. Assigned to Company E, transferred July 14, 1941 to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 366th Infantry and detailed as Regimental Recreation and Athletic Officer.
