Graduate R.O.T.C., Howard University 1939. Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant O.R.C., July 25, 1941. Ordered to active duty August 8, 1941.

My father, who retired as a Captain in 1945 after being awarded two Bronze Stars for heroism. Some of his experiences are recounted in the book Buffalo Soldiers in Italy by Hondon B. Hargrove.
