Graduate of R.O.T.C. Howard University, 1931. Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant O.R.C. 1931. Commissioned 1st Lieutenant O.R.C. 1939. Ordered to extended active duty March 3. 1941.

Jones was an art teacher in the D.C. Public Schools, and designed the 366th Infantry Regimental Flag and the Regimental Shield. Jones continued in the reserves and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
